ATTENTION EVERYBODY!!!!


We have a very special announcement to make...

is now one whole year old!!!

Wow, time sure does fly when you're having fun doesn't it!?

Well, in light of our anniversary, we admins thought, what better way to kick off this special occasion than with a contest??


Remember that little poll about which kind of contests are your favorite we asked a couple of weeks ago?  

The votes have been cast and the winner is "Original Character Contests"!!!!

Since you guys seem to like that option so much, we've decided that our first ever Anniversary Contest will be an Original Character contest!!!

Now, we know what you guys might be thinking:
"Oh awesome! Now I get to show off my character in all of their glory!!"

Well, not so fast there! We wouldn't want to make it easy for you now would we? Don't worry, you can still use one of your own characters in the picture if you want to...
but here's the twist...
We admins here work hard to keep the group running in top condition, and we feel like we've been left out of all of the fun as of late. So how's about showing us a little love and drawing us one of our characters to make our day a little bit better?
You guys get to choose any of the original characters we have placed in this journal. Keep in mind these characters belong to our Founder and various Co-Founders, so that means that you only have permission to use the characters that we have included in this journal! We're still trying to get in touch with a few of our Co-Founders about what characters we can use for the contest, so you'll probably notice more choices pop up soon.

No need to rush either. The deadline for this contest isn't until September 30th   October 5th!!!
But don't procrastinate either! You won't want to miss out on having the chance to win some of the prizes we have in store for you guys!

RULES

1) All of The-Art-Realm rules apply for submissions as stated on the rules on the front page. Also, this is a drawing or painting ONLY contest. Digital and traditional are welcome!

2) You can also draw one of your own characters as long as it appears with one of ours and doesn't break any of the other rules

3) You can't use a drawing you have already drawn! It must be a new drawing for this contest.

4) You can't draw a licensed character from a t.v. show, or movie, or video game, or book or anything else. However, you may include a character you made up!!

5) You can't use a base! It must be a real drawing by you.

6) You MUST include at least about 75% of the original character's body! No waist-ups! It is preferable that you draw a character in full size from head to toe, but if necessary, it can be reduced to about 75% of their body-and let's not forget to draw their heads!!! It should be a recognizable portrayal of one of our O.C.s!!

7) YOU MUST COLOR YOUR DRAWING! (sorry, hehe!)

8) One of the Admin/s characters MUST be included. You can draw as many of our o.c.s together as you like as long as it has at least 75% of at least one of the Admin/s original characters in the composition. If you have questions about the O.C. for the admin that you are drawing for, don't hesitate to ask them about their characters!

9) If you wish, you may enter the contest with up to 3 entries and a total of ONLY 3 ENTRIES---ONLY ONE OF YOUR ENTRIES CAN WIN, though!!!

10) You must submit your entry to in the folder marked "Original Character Contest" AND it must have credit given to the Admin or Admins of the group you chose to draw for.
To give credit, you must "mention" through DeviantArt's mentioning system by either using their icon, or by linking them by name in the description. For example, you might say something such as "Character belongs to " or "Character belongs to AliyaBloodHeart"
You must do this so that they get the notice in their inbox about the piece drawn for them.
How do I make an Icon, you ask? Icons can be made by typing this:  :icon aliyabloodheart:
then take out the space between the icon part and the name of the deviant and an icon will appear.
If you want to make a link to the deviant and mention them that way, you will do this:
:dev aliyabloodheart:
and then delete the space between dev and the name of the deviant.
This must always stay on your drawing, you are not allowed to take it off from the description as this person or people own the character.
If you draw more than one admin/s character, you must "mention" each admin in the description.

11) You MUST be a member of the group to participate!!! (So you can submit your own work to the proper folder--we are busy enough without having to submit things for you and if you leave the group after submitting your work to the folder, you will be disqualified from the contest.)

ENTRIES WILL BE JUDGED ON THESE CRITERIA:

Composition (how you have placed everything in the drawing)
Technique (skill with which you used a particular art material or digital program)
Likeness to the character (How close you came to making it look like the character)
Creativity (How unique your drawing is)
Overall Quality (How all the elements of your piece work together as a whole)
